Goa, Oct. 10 -- In a stunning decision, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuela's opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, dashing US President Donald Trump's hopes. Known as Venezuela's 'Iron Lady', Machado has spent years promoting democratic rights, often at great personal risk. Following the controversial 2024 elections, she went into hiding to evade political persecution under President Nicolas Maduro.
