Washington, Dec. 13 -- Three members of the US House of Representatives have introduced a resolution seeking to overturn former President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration that led to steep tariffs of up to 50 per cent on imports from India, describing the move as illegal and damaging to American workers, consumers, and US-India relations.
The resolution, introduced on Friday by Representatives Deborah Ross, Marc Veasey, and Raja Krishnamoorthi, aims to terminate the use of emergency powers to impose the additional import duties. The move follows a recent bipartisan Senate resolution that sought to end similar tariffs on Brazil and rein in the President's authority to raise tariffs under emergency declarations.
