India, Feb. 17 -- A 59-year-old police department staffer, Yashwant Gawas, died after sustaining critical injuries in a leopard attack in Sattari, officials confirmed. The incident occurred on the Thane-Charavane road when Gawas was returning home on his scooter after completing his duty. He was reportedly attacked by a leopard in a forested stretch of the road, leaving him severely injured.
Local residents and authorities rushed him to hospital immediately after the incident. He was admitted to Goa Medical College (GMC), where doctors provided intensive treatment. Despite sustained medical efforts over the following days, Gawas succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
