India, Feb. 19 -- The Porvorim Police Station has registered a criminal case after a Madhya Pradesh resident allegedly retained government funds mistakenly transferred to his account. According to officials, two sums of 1,62,125 and 32,895 were accidentally credited to an account on July 30 and 31, 2025. Police noted that 89,108 was withdrawn, and the accused reportedly refused to return the money, prompting action for criminal breach of trust and misappropriation. No arrests have been made so far, and PSI Sanket Talkar is investigating further. Authorities stressed that retaining wrongly transferred government funds is a punishable offence.
