PANJIM, Feb. 19 -- The Tourism Department is set to launch a mobile application to curb illegal activities on the beaches. The department is also contemplating to earmark "picnic zones" across beaches where liquor will be allowed subject to permission from the concerned authorities.

Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar told reporters that the App, which is expected to launch within one month's time, will also keep a check on the cleanliness on the beaches.

"I want the entire coastal belt clean... no garbage... there should be no drowning deaths, no hawkers, no bottles strewn on the beaches, and no illegal activities. For this, an App will be launched within one month," he said.
