Goa, Oct. 16 -- India has reaffirmed that its energy policies prioritize Indian consumers, responding to US President Donald Trump's claim that PM Narendra Modi assured him India would stop buying oil from Russia.

"India is a significant importer of oil and gas. Our policies are guided by the objective of ensuring stable energy prices and secured supplies," said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, according to NDTV.
