Goa, July 3 -- US President Donald Trump has endorsed a Senate bill that seeks to impose steep tariffs, up to 500%-on countries continuing to purchase oil and energy products from Russia. Spearheaded by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, the bill is aimed at curbing global financial support for Russia amid its ongoing war in Ukraine.
The proposed legislation targets imports from nations that buy Russian crude oil, gas, uranium, and petrochemicals, especially if they are not actively aiding Ukraine. India and China-responsible for approximately 70% of Russia's oil exports-are explicitly named in the bill. If passed, their goods entering the U.S. could face extreme tariffs.
