Goa, June 23 -- Tripura has reached a major educational milestone, becoming the third Indian state-after Mizoram and Goa-to be declared fully literate, crossing the 95% literacy benchmark set by the Ministry of Education. With a current literacy rate of 95.6%, the achievement has been officially confirmed by Preeti Meena, Director (Adult Education) at the Union Ministry of Education. This meets the UNESCO-defined threshold for full literacy.
The state's journey to this landmark has been one of steady progress. As per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) for 2023-24, Tripura's literacy rate was 93.7%.
