Goa, Oct. 30 -- The Directorate of Transport has issued a public notice mandating the installation of GPS tracking devices and emergency buttons in all public transport vehicles across the state. The directive aims to enhance passenger safety and improve real-time vehicle monitoring.
According to the notice, vehicle owners must ensure compliance on or before November 30. The Transport Department has warned that non-compliant vehicles may face penalties or be denied fitness certification.
Officials said the presence of GPS and emergency alert systems will be verified during fitness renewal inspections as well as through random surprise checks conducted by the department.
