Goa, May 10 -- Traditional fishermen in Benaulim are calling on the Goa government to address long-standing issues related to the lack of designated space for drying fish and safe parking for boats during the monsoon season. The community, which has relied on fishing for generations, says the absence of basic infrastructure is threatening their livelihood.
Speaking to reporters, local fisherman Pele Fernadies voiced frustration over the government's inaction. "Fishermen in Colva have been given land for drying fish. Why are we being ignored? Many women in our community are involved in the fish drying business, and they have no proper place to work," he said.
