MAPUSA, Jan. 29 -- In a bid to deter miscreants from dumping garbage near the Moira bridge, the village panchayat has taken the initiative to install CCTV cameras to monitor the spot.
The piles of mixed waste being dumped along the Mapusa-Moira road, especially near the bridge one passes while entering the village, had become a concern for the locals as it was creating a bad image of the otherwise idyllic village.
Several times, groups of local youths had taken up drives to clean up the stretch and the panchayat had repeatedly removed the garbage as well, but the menace continued unchecked.
