India, Feb. 4 -- Three shops in Margao were burgled in the early hours of Tuesday, between 3 am and 4 am, after unidentified thieves broke open shutters to gain entry and decamped with garments, other items and cash.

According to preliminary information, goods worth around 50,000 to 60,000 were stolen from the shops, along with an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident has sparked concern among local traders, who alleged that night police patrolling may not have been carried out in the area at the time of the thefts.

Police have registered a case in connection with the burglaries and have launched an investigation to identify and trace the culprits. Further details are awaited.
