Goa, Sept. 3 -- Residents of Chimbel were taken aback after discovering thousands of cucumbers dumped in the locality, raising concerns over food wastage and accountability.

According to local sources, the vegetables were allegedly discarded by the horticulture department, though no official confirmation has been issued so far. The sight of fresh cucumbers lying abandoned has triggered criticism, particularly at a time when farmers struggle to access fair markets for their produce.

Residents have demanded clarity from the authorities, urging the government to explain why such large quantities of consumable vegetables are being disposed of instead of being distributed to the public or processed for alternative use.
