PONDA, June 3 -- Ponda Police while conducting COVID-19 survey on the rented premises found 10 Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing, at Banastarim.

During the police enquiry, it was revealed that they had come to Goa few years ago in search of employment and were engaged in scrap business and also operating a scrapyard.

They were residing in a rented premise at Banastari, Khandola-Marcel area of Ponda Taluka.

The police have directed them to stay at the present address till further inquiry and action is complete. However, so far, the police did not get any information of their involvement in any crimes. It is learnt that some have even Aadhaar Cards and most of them have confessed that they are Bangladeshi nationals.
