Goa, Aug. 7 -- Babu Gaonkar, a resident of Tambdi Surla, sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wild bear while walking through the forest area in Collem on Wednesday.

According to sources, the bear attacked Gaonkar from behind, leaving him with deep wounds. Locals rushed to his aid and quickly arranged for him to be transported to the Goa Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Bambolim, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

Forest officials have been alerted, and an investigation into the incident is underway. The area is known for frequent wildlife movement, and authorities are urging residents and trekkers to exercise extreme caution while venturing into forest zones.
