Goa, Dec. 4 -- Senior lawyer and former Mizoram Governor Swaraj Kaushal, husband of the late Union Minister Sushma Swaraj and father of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, passed away on Thursday at the age of 73. Bansuri Swaraj paid an emotional tribute on social media, recalling his discipline, patriotism, simplicity, and unwavering patience, describing him as a guiding light in her life. Several political leaders expressed condolences, and Kaushal was cremated at Lodhi Road cremation ground on Thursday evening. Born in Solan on July 12, 1952, he served as Mizoram Governor (1990-93) and was a member of Parliament (1998-2004). He played a pivotal role in the 1986 Mizoram Peace Accord and was the state's first Advocate General.
