Goa, Sept. 23 -- The Supreme Court on Monday sought a response from the Delhi Police on the bail pleas of activists Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Gulfisha Fatima, and Meeran Haider, who face charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with the alleged conspiracy behind the February 2020 Delhi riots.
A bench comprising Justices Aravind Kumar and N V Anjaria issued notices and scheduled the next hearing for October 27.
At the start of proceedings, Justice Kumar clarified that the case could not be taken up on September 19 because Justice Manmohan, who was to sit on the bench, had sought recusal due to his previous association with senior advocate Kapil Sibal.
