Goa, Dec. 8 -- In a significant move regarding the ongoing dispute over a controversial bungalow near a protected heritage site in Old Goa, the Supreme Court has appointed retired Additional Sessions Judge Edgar Fernandes to lead a fact-finding committee.
The committee has been tasked with examining the original structure, the current construction, and all documents submitted by the respondents in the Special Leave Petitions (SLPs) linked to the case. The panel will verify whether the existing structure aligns with heritage regulations and previously approved plans.
Judge Fernandes has been directed to submit a detailed report to the Supreme Court within four weeks, paving the way for further judicial action based on the findings.
