Goa, May 18 -- Sunil Gavaskar has publicly questioned the lack of recognition given to Shreyas Iyer for his pivotal role in leading the Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title. Gavaskar pointed out that while Iyer, as captain, was instrumental both with the bat, scoring 351 runs in 14 innings, and through his leadership, much of the praise for KKR's success was directed at others, specifically mentor Gautam Gambhir, rather than Iyer himself. He also noted that this time, with Punjab Kings, Iyer is receiving much fairer praise.
