Goa, Oct. 17 -- The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has issued a stop-work notice to a hotel project over the alleged construction of an illegal retaining wall and related works in the beach area and adjoining zones at Bambolim.
The action follows site inspections and reports received regarding the ongoing construction. The company has been directed to immediately halt all work on the retaining wall and maintain the status quo until further orders from the Department.
Additionally, the company has been asked to show cause as to why action should not be taken against them under the Goa Tourist Places Protection and Maintenance Act, 2001, which classifies unauthorised constructions in tourist areas as a nuisance.
