Goa, Oct. 9 -- G. Ranganathan, proprietor of Kancheepuram-based Sresan Pharmaceuticals, was arrested in Chennai on October 9, 2025, by a Madhya Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with contaminated Coldrif cough syrup linked to the deaths of 21 children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Ranganathan was detained from his Kodambakkam residence, and police conducted a joint search of the company's manufacturing unit in Sunguvarchatram. The facility along the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway has been sealed, and the registered office remains shut.
