Goa, Jan. 19 -- A slab portion collapsed at the CDPO office in Pernem on Sunday, leaving one person injured. The injured, identified as clerk Sujay Gawade, sustained injuries while on duty inside the office premises and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Tuem for treatment.

According to the Deputy Collector, letters had earlier been sent to engineers of the Public Works Department highlighting cracks in parts of the ceiling. However, no concrete action was taken despite repeated warnings. When questioned, officials reportedly said the file related to repairs was "under process."
