Goa, Aug. 9 -- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday announced a major milestone for India's private space sector, with Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace successfully completing the first static test of its powerful KALAM 1200 solid rocket motor. The test, conducted at 9:05 am at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre's (SDSC) Static Test Complex in Sriharikota, marks a critical step in the development of the Vikram-1 launch vehicle.

The KALAM 1200 serves as the first stage of Vikram-1 and is a monolithic composite motor measuring 11 metres in length and 1.7 metres in diameter, carrying 30 tonnes of solid propellant.
