Goa, Jan. 23 -- Former Margao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Savio Coutinho has played a key role in ensuring progress towards the regularisation of services for 12 sanitation workers of the council, bringing relief after a prolonged legal struggle.

The sanitation workers had fought a five-year battle in the High Court, which on August 4, 2025, directed the MMC to regularise their services. However, the workers alleged that the council failed to implement the court's order even after four months, leaving them with no option but to initiate contempt proceedings.
