Goa, Dec. 23 -- The ruling BJP MGP alliance tightened its grip on Goa's rural administration on Monday, securing an absolute ma jority by winning 32 out of 50 seats in the Zilla Panchayat elections. BJP won 29 while MGP bagged 3 seats. The Con gress improved its per formance by winning 10 seats, maximum 7 out of 9 in Salcete taluka, which is considered to be the party's bastion. Congress's ally Goa Forward Party (GFP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had the consola tion of winning one seat each, both winning in Salcete taluka. The election also marked a milestone for the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), whichopened its account with two seats in its maiden ZP outing after fielding candidates in 29 constituencies.
