Goa, July 28 -- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has clarified that the Task Force on the National Education Policy (NEP) recommended the use of the Roman script - referring broadly to the English alphabet (A, B, C) - and not specifically the 'Romi Konkani' script.

Speaking on the ongoing debate surrounding Konkani scripts in education, Sawant stated, "The Roman script referred to in the NEP Task Force report is the general English alphabet, not Romi Konkani. Moreover, Roman script is already being implemented in education along with Devanagari."
