Goa, May 22 -- A large section of the retaining wall of Alta Monte Society collapsed on Damodar Chamber Society yesterday, raising serious concerns about long-standing structural risks and administrative inaction.
According to residents, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. Two years ago, a smaller portion of the same retaining wall had collapsed. Despite repeated warnings and formal complaints to the disaster management authorities, no corrective action was taken, said Mario Pinto Almeida, a concerned resident.
"We informed the disaster management team two years back," Almeida stated. "But unfortunately, no steps were taken to prevent further damage."
