Goa, Jan. 6 -- Residents across several parts of South Goa will experience restricted water supply on January 7 and 8 as the Public Works Department (PWD) carries out urgent maintenance work at the 160 MLD water treatment plant at Xelpem in Sanguem taluka. PWD officials said water supply will be affected in Sanguem, Quepem, Salcete and Mormugao during the two-day period, as the plant will operate at 50 per cent capacity. The scheduled shutdown on January 7, from 9 am to 7 pm, includes repairs to leaking old cement pipelines in Verna and inspection of a clariflocculator after emptying a water tank. Executive Engineer Shrikant Gaonkar said the work is essential to ensure smooth operations and appealed to consumers to cooperate.
