Goa, July 7 -- Residents in several parts of Mapusa, Calangute, and other Bardez areas have been grappling with reddish-brown, muddy water flowing from their taps for days, sparking serious concerns about public health and water safety.

Despite repeated complaints to the Public Works Department (PWD) water division, the problem remains unresolved, leaving families dependent on packaged water even for basic needs. Locals say the contaminated water is unfit for drinking or cooking, and boiling does nothing to remove the discoloration.

"For the last several days, we have been receiving reddish water. Even after boiling, the colour stays the same," shared a resident of Calangute.
