Goa, Nov. 24 -- Renewed opposition has emerged across the coastal belt in and around Betul, with residents and traditional fishing communities expressing concern over any sign that the port proposal may be revisited.
Roy Barretto, speaking on behalf of the local community of Mobor village, whose livelihoods depend on the sea and river, said: "Massive destruction is going on at the mouth of the River Sal - Betul Port, Mormugao Port Authority - posing environmental destruction to benefit corporates from north to south, east to west, in the name of development."
