Summary Points, July 8 -- In a major crackdown on illegal meat trade, the Ramnagar Police intercepted a vehicle and seized 1,930 kilograms of beef allegedly being smuggled from Karnataka to Goa for illicit sale. The confiscated meat is estimated to be worth around Rs.6.75 lakh.
According to police sources, the vehicle was stopped during a routine patrol after officers grew suspicious of its movement. Upon inspection, a large quantity of beef was discovered, packed and concealed for transport across state lines without proper documentation or permits.
