Goa, Dec. 30 -- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday announced that Quepem will serve as the headquarters of Goa's proposed third district, marking a key step in the state's administrative restructuring. The decision was finalised during an all-party meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to discuss the formation of the new district.

CM Sawant stated that the proposed district will comprise the talukas of Dharbandora, Sanguem, Quepem and Canacona, aiming to improve governance and bring administration closer to the people of South Goa's hinterland. He said the move would help address long-pending demands for decentralisation and faster delivery of public services.
