Priya Mishal was on Friday elected unopposed chairperson for the Mapusa Municipal Council, for the second time, at a special meeting held in the municipal hall.

Priya was the chairperson from February 2023 to 2024. The post had fallen vacant after the resignation of Dr Nutan Bicholkar on February 14, as part of a mutual understanding among councillors of the ruling group, wherein the five-year term has been split among them. Mishal had filed four sets of nominations proposed by councillors Prakash Bhivshet, Barbara Carassco, Nutan Bicholkar and Ashirwad Khorjuvekar.
