Goa, April 25 -- Goa's electricity consumers may soon see a nearly 6% increase in their power bills, starting this financial year, if a new proposal by the Goa Electricity Department (GED) is approved. The department has submitted a petition to the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) seeking a phased tariff hike over three consecutive financial years - 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28.
As per the petition, the GED has proposed:
However, the department has assured that there will be no further tariff increases in 2028-29 and 2029-30. These proposals are part of a comprehensive five-year business plan, covering the period from April 2025 through March 2030.
