PORVORIM, Feb. 19 -- Porvorim which was billed as the New Panjim city with the shifting of government department, the High Court, the Secretariat and the Legislature is writhing for water.

Residents of Succoro area has not received a drop of water for two months. Our traps are dry, there is not a single drop of water from teh taps.

At the same time some areas of Porvorim such as Shantinagar and Pundalik Nagar get preferential treatment and get water supplied to them in tankers, by the PWD.

Even when residents want to order private tanker water some residents alleged that in some area there is water contractor mafia is deliberately breaking pipes so plumbing contractors can get work, Dhananjay Borkar alleged.
