Goa, Jan. 11 -- St Cruz MLA Rudolf Fernandes on Sunday alleged that politics and financial backing were involved in the protest held at Chimbel over the unity mall issue. Speaking to reporters, Rudolf questioned why the protesters chose to march to his residence instead of engaging in dialogue. He claimed that he had arranged meetings with the Chief Minister and had also met some protesters around five months ago, but his efforts were ignored. Rudolf said he wanted to meet a small delegation of five people, which was not accepted. He further alleged that protest leader Ajay Kholkar was acting for political gains, adding that Kholkar failed to establish leadership even in his own ward during the recently held ZP polls.
