Goa, Sept. 12 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur on September 13 to launch and inaugurate development projects worth Rs.8,500 crore. This will be his first visit to the state since ethnic clashes between the Kuki and Meitei communities erupted in May 2023, claiming over 260 lives and displacing thousands.

Modi's itinerary includes laying foundation stones for Rs.7,300 crore projects at Peace Ground in Churachandpur, a Kuki-majority district, and inaugurating Rs.1,200 crore infrastructure works from Imphal, the Meitei-dominated capital. He is also expected to meet displaced families and announce possible rehabilitation packages.
