Goa, Oct. 19 -- The Louvre Museum in Paris, the world's most-visited cultural landmark, was evacuated and closed on Sunday following a reported robbery. France's Culture Minister Rachida Dati confirmed that the theft occurred early in the morning as the museum was opening for visitors. She assured the public that no injuries were reported and said she was present at the scene with law enforcement teams as investigations began.

According to sources, the thieves used compact chainsaws and accessed the museum via a freight elevator before fleeing with several valuable pieces of jewelry.
