Goa, Dec. 6 -- The SGPDA Wholesale Fish Market in Margao, though fully operational, continues to grapple with serious hygiene issues, raising growing concerns among vendors and locals. Despite the market being structurally ready, the premises remain in an unhygienic state, with overflowing gutters observed just metres away from where fish is being sold.
Outside the market, drains are clogged with plastic waste, creating stagnant pools of water that residents say have become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The unhygienic surroundings are not only affecting sanitation but also posing potential health risks to consumers and traders.
