Goa, Jan. 12 -- The Goa Legislative Assembly witnessed heated scenes on Monday as opposition legislators disrupted the Governor's address, demanding an immediate discussion on the Birch fire tragedy.
As Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju began his address to the House, members of the united opposition raised slogans and sought to draw attention to the issue. The protest intensified when their demand for a discussion was not taken up.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant appealed to the opposition members to maintain decorum and allow the proceedings to continue. However, carrying placards, the opposition legislators attempted to enter the well of the House and were stopped by Assembly marshals.
