Goa, Dec. 29 -- A man died after two coaches of the Tatanagar-Ernakulam Express were engulfed in flames near Yalamanchili, around 66 km from the city, early Monday morning, police said.
Authorities received information about the blaze at approximately 12:45 a.m. Upon inspection, officials confirmed that 82 passengers were traveling in one of the affected compartments and 76 in the other at the time of the incident.
"Unfortunately, a deceased person was recovered from the B1 coach," a senior police official told reporters.
The victim has been identified as Chandrsekhar Sundaram.
Further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
