Goa, Jan. 22 -- Maina Curtorim police have arrested a 19-year-old youth in connection with the recent robbery reported from Nuvem, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Arjun Ganpat Gaikwad, a native of Pune, Maharashtra. Police said Gaikwad was taken into custody following an investigation into the robbery case registered at the Maina Curtorim police station.

According to the police, preliminary inquiries and technical evidence helped trace the suspect, leading to his arrest. The accused is being questioned to ascertain his exact role in the crime and to determine whether others were involved.

Further investigation is underway, and the police are expected to produce the accused before the court for remand.
