Goa, July 11 -- In a significant move to curb illegal bullfighting (dhirio), the North Goa District Magistrate has constituted special committees to take swift and coordinated action against such events, in compliance with court directives aimed at preventing animal cruelty.

The newly formed committees will operate at the taluka level and include representatives from the police, revenue, and animal husbandry departments. Their primary responsibility will be to monitor, report, and promptly act against any illegal dhirio events, ensuring enforcement of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant judicial orders.
