Goa, June 13 -- Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday dismissed speculation that taxi aggregators Ola and Uber would soon begin operations in Goa. He clarified that the recently announced taxi aggregator guidelines were not intended to allow these companies into the state.

"There is no question of Ola and Uber entering Goa as of now," Sawant said. "People should not be confused by the guidelines. They are meant to regulate the existing taxi system, not to permit new companies."

The clarification comes amid growing concern from local taxi operators, who fear that app-based services could impact their earnings and disrupt the current system.
