Goa, Oct. 13 -- Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said India is poised to become a global leader in biofuels. He made the remarks while laying the foundation stone and dedicating three National Highway projects in Puducherry. Gadkari highlighted that India's electric vehicle industry has grown to Rs.22 lakh crore from Rs.14 lakh crore in 2014.

The minister dedicated the 38-km four-lane Puducherry-Poondiyankuppam section of NH-32, built at a cost of Rs.1,588 crore. He also laid the foundation for a 4-km elevated corridor on NH-32 with an outlay of Rs.436 crore and improvement works for a 14-km stretch of East Coast Road costing Rs.25 crore.
