Goa, May 1 -- In a significant step toward strengthening the investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases, a new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the collection and handling of forensic evidence in rape cases was officially launched at the Goa Police Headquarters on the occasion of World DNA Day.
The initiative, spearheaded by renowned lawyer and former Additional Solicitor General of India, Pinky Anand, seeks to address long-standing gaps in the criminal justice system-particularly the inconsistent use of forensic science during investigations.
