VASCO, June 27 -- Two-time councillor Leo Rodrigues is all set to become the new chairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council.

Rodrigues is the only councillor, who filed his nomination for the post, which fell vacant following the resignation of Damodar Kaskar.

Rodrigues had filed his nomination on Friday while no other councillor filed nomination on Sunday, which was the last day to file nominations, according to Chief Officer Jayant Tari.

Rodrigues will be declared elected unopposed at a special meeting of the Mormugao Municipal Council convened at 10.30 am on Monday, June 27, to elect the new chairperson.
