Goa, Feb. 28 -- The United States embassy granted an emergency visa on Friday to the family of Neelam Shinde, an Indian student currently in a coma following a severe road accident in California. Neelam's father, Tanhaji Shinde, announced that the family plans to depart for the United States on Saturday.
"I received a call from her roommate on February 16, but she did not mention the accident at that time. It was later that she informed Neelam's uncle about the situation. Neelam remains in a coma, although her condition has shown slight improvement. We visited the embassy, where they conducted our interview and issued the visas within half an hour. We will be leaving for the US tomorrow," Tanhaji Shinde stated.
