Goa, Dec. 30 -- In a politically intriguing development in South Goa, a mystery vote during the Zilla Panchayat chairperson election has pushed the BJP ahead, sparking speculation of cross-voting. The BJP, along with an Independent, fielded 15 candidates but managed to secure 16 votes, defeating the Congress-backed bloc which stood at nine. The unexpected extra vote has left political observers guessing about its origin. Questions are being raised over whether the cross-vote came from the Congress, Goa Forward, or the Aam Aadmi Party.
