Goa, Nov. 11 -- Reacting to the increasing menace of stray cattle on Goa's streets, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Minister Nilkant Halarnkar said municipalities and panchayats must take responsibility for managing the issue. They are expected to collect stray cattle and house them in designated areas. Halarnkar highlighted that, under current rules, municipal and panchayat directors can sign MOUs with gaushalas, which not only collect cattle from roads but also ensure their welfare and proper burial after death. The Minister added that the Goa government provides 150 rupees per day for feeding cows and oxen in gaushalas and also pays salaries to those working in these facilities, ensuring proper management and care.
